Welcome to Los Angeles!
APhA2013 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As one of the world's top trendsetters, you can count on Los Angeles to constantly evolve, adapt and re-imagine its possibilities. Innovative new hotels, restaurants, and museums consistently set new standards, and classic LA favorites stay on top of their game with revamps and expansions. So no matter how often you visit, you'll always find a fresh perspective on our dynamic city.
Los Angeles activities range from performing arts to outer-space exhibits to Roman antiquities. There are plenty of things to do in Los Angeles, whether you're here for the first time or just want to see what's happening in LA. Think whale watching on the Pacific, thrill riding at Universal Studios Hollywood, or reveling in LA's architecture.
As Downtown LA grows more cosmopolitan by the minute, the influx of openings in the past year is everything a die-hard foodie could wish for. If the fickle economy has you rethinking that night out at the local hotspot, show up before or after the dinner rush and you can still enjoy some of LA's top restaurants.
Within walking distance to all APhA hotels is L.A. Live. Already one of the world's most comprehensive entertainment complexes, L.A. Live keeps getting bigger and better. Visitors can tour the Grammy Museum, dine at LA's famous Katsuya, cheer on the Lakers or Clippers at Staples Center, bowl at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge, take in a movie at the 14-screen cinema, and relax in a posh hotel — all without leaving the neighborhood.
A bit further away is Santa Monica. After making cameos in too many Hollywood movies to count, Santa Monica's distinctive open-air shopping center, Santa Monica Place, is in the midst of a massive renovation that planners are equating to the "rebirth of a star."
Up to a week in advance, half-price tickets are available to more than 100 plays, operas, concerts and other performances from LA Stage Alliance at LA INC.'s Visitor Information Centers. Tickets are available for major venues, such as the Ahmanson Theatre, as well as LA's numerous 99-seat theaters. Every Tuesday, tickets for performances through the following Tuesday are released by the venues and posted online.
Los Angeles enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate — moderate temperatures with low humidity year-round. Midday readings average 70 degrees in March.
